Why WE love Luxor
For Sale - Riverside House

Luxor is the most famous open air museum in the world and we have all seen fabulous pictures of the tombs and temples. But there is so much more to see here - the wonderful local life - which is why we love this part of Luxor.                                      For more photos please take a look at the link on our homepage to our Youtube slideshows.

Less than a mile from the centre of Gizera and you are in a world which has changed little over the centuries. Here, by the river, opposite the Winter Palace Hotel is a typical example of a mudbrick and straw farmhouse.

The West Bank of Luxor is an amazing mix of cultures and lifestyles. There are lots of new buildings mingling in with the old, cars compete with donkey carts on the roads, the old mudbrick houses have satellite tv dishes on the roof, and the children all have shoes but prefer to run around barefoot.

Its just before the sunset time and the little roads are busy as the farmers take their  animals home for the night .

The above photos show a man and his son gathering the last of the date crop. And no....its not a Dalek!......its a deluxe pigeon house. These towers can be home for hundreds of birds.

Here a little farmhouse is shaded by the date palms and the donkey is enjoying his lunch.
